Configuration Table Dialog Box
You can use Configuration Table to create and modify configurations for commonly configured parameters, components, and properties in parts and assemblies.
SOLIDWORKS creates this table automatically when a part or assembly has multiple configurations.
To enable configuration tables:
- Click .
- Select Create configuration
tables on open.Using this option can affect performance.
To access a configuration table:
- Open a part or an assembly that has multiple configurations and click the ConfigurationManager tab.
- Expand Tables .
- Right-click Configuration Table and click Show Table.
A column highlighted in a different color means that the column is blocked from editing.
Configuration Name
Lists the configuration of the model. The active configuration appears in bold.
To add new configurations:
- Click <Creates a new configuration>.
- Enter a name.
- Press Enter.
You can right-click any configuration and click the following:
Rename Configuration | Changes the name of the selected configuration. |
Delete Configuration | Deletes the selected configuration from the model. |
Add Derived Configuration | Adds a derived configuration as a child of the selected configuration. |
Switch to Configuration | Makes the selected
configuration the active one. Click Rebuild active
configuration
to
update to the configuration you activated.

Sketches and Features | Feature dimension values and suppression states. |

Configuration Parameters
You can modify the following configuration parameters:
Suppress new features | Parts only. |
Suppress new features and mates | Assemblies only. |
Suppress new components | |
Fix / Float | Assemblies only. |
Child components in BOM | Configures the setting for
Child component display when used as
a subassembly in the Configuration Properties PropertyManager. Select Show, Hide, or Promote. |
Exclude from BOM on Insert | Configures the setting for Set 'Exclude from bill of materials' when inserted into assembly in the Configuration Properties PropertyManager. |
Parameters Columns
You can add more columns by double-clicking items in the graphics area or FeatureManager design tree. Click at the top of a column to select other parameters of a feature to configure.
Linked dimensions are grouped in a column labeled Linked Dimension instead of appearing in columns for individual features. Each linked dimension appears in the list only once, even if it is used in several features.
- Change numeric values.
- Select from a list of component configurations or part materials.
- Change the suppression state of features, sketches, components, and mates.
You can right-click the header of a parameter column and click the following:
Delete | Deletes the column from the table. |
Rename | Highlights the name so you can enter a new name for the parameter. When you click Apply or save the table, the parameter name updates in the model. |
Unconfigure | Applies the active configuration's value to all configurations and deletes the column from the table. |
Block model edits |
Prevents updates to the model. When you block edits, the column displays in a different color. To change this color, click Dimensions, Controlled by Design Table color setting. . Modify theIn the graphics area, dimensions that are blocked for editing appear in the same color. |
To rearrange the order of columns in the table, select a column header and drag the column.

Hide/Show Sketches and Features | Controls the visibility of columns that contain suppression states, and sketch and feature dimensions. | |
Hide/Show Components | Controls the visibility of columns that contain component configurations, fix/float states, and suppression states. | |
Hide/Show Custom Properties | Controls visibility of the Custom Properties column for configuration-specific custom properties. The Custom Properties column contains subcolumns for configured properties. Click at the top of the column to select other properties to configure. You can create new properties by selecting **New Property from the list. | |
Hide/Show Configuration Parameters | Controls the visibility of columns that contain configuration parameters. | |
Save table view | Applies changes to the model and saves the current view of the table. For new table views, enter a name in the field before saving. Tables are saved in the Tables folder on the ConfigurationManager tab. |
