Controlling the Update Behavior of Drawing Views
You can control the update behavior of views in a drawing.
If you make changes to a model, views in the related drawing might become out
of date.
- If the drawing is open when the model changes, then the drawing document property Automatic view update controls the update behavior.
- If you open the drawing after the model changes, then the system option Allow auto-update when opening drawings controls the update behavior.
Updating Views Automatically in an Open Drawing
You can control whether drawing views update automatically if the drawing is open and you save changes to the related model. You can exclude selected views from the automatic updates.
To turn automatic view update on or off in the current drawing:
When you save the drawing, the settings for Automatic
view update and Exclude from automatic
update are saved within the drawing and remembered from one session
to the next.
Updating Views Automatically When Opening Drawings
You can specify to automatically update all out-of-date views when you open a drawing.
To update views automatically when opening drawings:
The system option is not affected by the Automatic view update and Exclude from automatic update properties that you set within
drawing documents.
Updating Drawing Views Manually
If a drawing view is out of date, you can update it manually.
