Make Multibody Parts
The Make Multibody Part tool converts an entire assembly into a separate, single multibody part that is linked to the parent assembly. The parent assembly reflects all features that you create in the linked multibody part. Downstream platform applications also support these features so you can perform post-assembly operations on the multibody part, such as material removal.
To create a multibody part, in an assembly, click
.Assembly features in the main assembly or any subassembly are transferred to the multibody part. If the assembly has multiple configurations, you can choose the configuration to use in the multibody part.
The Make Multibody Part
feature appears in the FeatureManager
design tree. Solid bodies are transferred by default. You can decide which other
assembly entities to transfer such as surface bodies, reference geometry, and materials.
The tool groups the entities into folders that show the number of instances.
All bodies in the multibody part inherit their names from the assembly. They also match the position of the parts relative to the origin in the parent assembly. You can choose the configuration to create the multibody part.
