Export to AEC - Preview and Save

You can use the Preview and Save screen of the Export to AEC wizard to preview the effect of the settings you have specified for the model and save the file in .RFA or .SAT format.

To display the Preview and Save screen of the Export to AEC wizard:

  1. Click Tools > Export to AEC.
  2. Complete the Type and Orientation screen and click .
  3. On the Specify Export Details screen, set the level of target model detail to use and click .

    If you select Custom, click and complete Step 1: Components, Step 2: To Keep, and Step 3: To Remove. For each step, click to advance to the next wizard screen.

Save Model as .RFA or .SAT

  1. Under Save Model as, select an option:
    • Revit Family (*.rfa)
      To export the custom properties of the file, select Export Custom Properties.
    • ASIC (*.sat)
  2. Click Export and save the file.
SOLIDWORKS 2021 supports exporting *.rfa files of version 2020. You can save a model in *.rfa format only if it contains valid BREP data.
