Suppressing Features in the Equations Dialog Box

You can define equations that conditionally suppress features. You can also suppress features directly in the Equations dialog box.

If you create an equation that controls the suppression state of a child feature, you cannot suppress or unsuppress the parent feature. To control the suppression state of the parent feature, create a separate equation for the parent feature or use alternative methods such as Configure Feature or design tables.

To suppress features from the Equations dialog box:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Click Equations (Tools toolbar).
    • Click Tools > Equations.
    • Right-click the Equations folder in the FeatureManager design tree, and select Manage Equations.
  2. Select the Equations View .
  3. Suppress the feature:
    1. In the Equations dialog box, in the Features section, click an empty cell.
    2. In the FeatureManager design tree, click the feature to suppress.
The feature name appears in the Features section. SOLIDWORKS populates the next cell with = (equal sign) and displays a list with options for Global Variables, Functions, File Properties, and Measure.
    3. Expand Global Variables, select suppress, and click .

Suppressed is added to the Evaluates to column.

You can also conditionally suppress features using the syntax of the Visual Basic if function.
  4. Click OK.
