Example of Adding a Flexible Component

In this example, you add a spring component to a model.

To add a flexible component:

  1. Open a model and insert a spring component.

  2. Create a coincident mate between the model and the spring component.

  3. Click View > Hide/Show > Axes .
  4. Create a concentric mate between the central axis of the spring component and the cylindrical shaft of model.
  5. Click .
  6. In the FeatureManager design tree, right-click the spring component and click Make Part Flexible in the context menu.
    In the graphics area, a preview of the unattached reference entity appears.

  7. To reattach the reference entity, click a planar face on the model.
  8. Click .
    In the graphics area, you can move the model up and down.
