Opening Recent Documents

You can open a recent document from the File menu or the Welcome dialog box.

3DEXPERIENCE users can also open and filter recent documents from the Open from 3DEXPERIENCE dialog box. For more information, see Opening Models on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform and Filtering the Recent Documents List.

To open a recent document:

  • When no documents are open:
    • Click File, and select a document to open.
      To see a preview of the document and its file path, hover over the menu item for the document. The preview and file path appear in a large tile.
    • Click File > Browse Recent Documents or press R and select a document.
  • When a document is open:
    • Click File > Open Recent, and select a document to open.
    • Click File > Open Recent > Browse Recent Documents or press R and select a document.
    You can include documents opened from other documents by selecting Include documents opened from other documents in System Options.
  • Regardless of whether a document is open or not:
    • Open the Welcome dialog box by doing one of the following:
      • Click Welcome to SOLIDWORKS (Standard toolbar).
      • Click > Welcome to SOLIDWORKS.
      • Click Welcome to SOLIDWORKS on the SOLIDWORKS Resources tab in the Task Pane.

    Then, on the Home tab or Recent Tab, click a tile to open a document.
