Entering Properties

The fields available vary depending on the active document type and the fields that the administrator defined for that document type. If more than one template is available for the active document type, select a template from the list. To change to another template, in the Template Options dialog box, click at the bottom of the pane.

The table below defines the available fields. The administrator defines each field on the Custom Properties tab. The fields can contain values either predefined by the administrator or previously entered by a user. Data you enter in a field is written to the Custom and Configuration Properties tabs in the Properties dialog box when you leave the field, and saved when you save the document.

You can also enter properties directly in the Custom and Configuration Properties tabs in the Properties dialog box. Click More Properties at the bottom of the pane to access the dialog box.

Group boxes group related elements.
Text boxes accept free-form text, dates, or Yes/No values as specified by the administrator.
Dates can be in any format. The software converts it to the syntax used by your operating system.
List boxes present a list of text values defined by the administrator.
Number boxes accept numeric values.
Check boxes switch between two predefined values. Different elements are available in each state (selected and cleared).
Radio buttons allow selection of one of two or three predefined values. Different elements are available in each state.
List groups let you create conditional lists.

By default, the control contains three lists. The first is the parent to the second list. When a user selects an item from the parent, it determines the selections that are available in the successive lists.

You can remove a list or add additional lists. You must have at least two lists.
