- Annotations Overview
- Annotations Options Overview
You can set options for annotations in various places.
- Annotation Views
- Multiple Annotations
- Align Between Lines
The Align Between Lines tool allows you to align annotations evenly between horizontal or vertical lines.
- Dangling Detail Items
Lists dangling detail items by type.
- Group Annotations
You can select multiple annotations in a drawing and group them so they move together when you drag them. Ungroup annotations so they move independently.
- 3D Annotations
SOLIDWORKS part and assembly documents support 3D annotations according to the ASME Y14.41-2003 standard.
- Orient Annotation PropertyManager
You can change the view orientation of 3D annotations. When you change the view orientation, you can also change the annotation view to which the annotation belongs.
- Leaders
- Balloons
You can create balloons in a drawing document or in a note. The balloons label the parts in the assembly and relate them to item numbers on the bill of materials (BOM).
- Center Marks and Centerlines
- Detailing for Sketch Slots
You can insert center marks in slots, include slots in hole tables, and display hole callouts for straight slots.
- Hole Callouts
The Hole Callout tool adds driven diameter dimensions to holes created by the Hole Wizard or circular cut features.
- Cosmetic Threads
Cosmetic threads describe the attributes of a specific hole so you need not add real threads to the model. A cosmetic thread represents the minor (inner) diameter of a thread on a boss or the major (outer) diameter of a thread on a hole and can include a hole callout in drawings.
- Symbols
- Area Hatch/Fill
You can add hatching within boundaries that do not receive automatic hatching. You can apply a crosshatch pattern or solid fill to a model face, to a closed sketch profile, or to a region bounded by a combination of model edges and sketch entities. Area hatch can be applied only in drawings.
- Location Labels for Views
You can place location labels on detail, section, and auxiliary drawings views to provide the sheet and zone location for the parent view. Additionally, you can place location labels on detail circles, section cutting lines, and auxiliary view arrows to provide the location of the corresponding child view.
- Revision Cloud
Revision cloud is an annotation type that lets you create cloud-like shapes in a drawing.
- Revision Symbols
Use revision symbols to callout changes that you want to associate with a particular revision.
- Blocks in Drawings
You can make, save, edit, and insert blocks for drawing items that you use often, such as standard notes, title blocks, label positions, and special symbols not found in the standard annotations.
- Inserting Reference Geometry into Drawings
- Notes
- Spelling Check
You can check the spelling in documents with the Spell Checker tool. This tool spell checks: notes, dimensions with text, and drawing title blocks (when in Edit Sheet Format mode). For multiple users, you can specify a central dictionary location.
- Cut List Properties
You can insert the cut list properties as an annotation when you insert a flat pattern view of a sheet metal part in a drawing.
- Format Painter
Format Painter copies visual properties from dimensions and annotations to other dimensions and annotations in the same document or another document. Format Painter is supported by parts, assemblies, and drawings.
