Mold Folders
When you use various mold tools, the software automatically creates the following folders and adds the appropriate surfaces to them:
Cavity Surface Bodies | When you create a parting line with the Parting Line PropertyManager, the software automatically creates this folder. If shut-off surfaces are not needed, the software populates the folder with one cavity surface body. If shut-off surfaces are needed, the folder remains empty. |
Core Surface Bodies | When you create a parting line with the Parting Line PropertyManager, the software automatically creates this folder. If shut-off surfaces are not needed, the software populates the folder with one core surface body. If shut-off surfaces are needed, the folder remains empty. |
Parting Surface Bodies | When you create a parting surface in the Parting Surface PropertyManager, the software automatically creates this folder and populates it with the parting surfaces. If you select the Knit option in the PropertyManager, one surface is added to the folder. If you do not select the Knit option, many separate surfaces are added to the folder. |
If your part contains through holes, you need to create shut-off surfaces. When you create shut-off surfaces in the Shut-off Surface PropertyManager, the software populates Cavity Surface Bodies and Core Surface Bodies with the appropriate surfaces. If you select Knit in the PropertyManager, one surface, which is the main core (or cavity) surface knitted together with all the shut-off surfaces, is added to each folder. If you do not select Knit, the folders are populated with the main cavity (or core) surface, plus a separate shut-off surface for each through hole.
If you want to define a mold using surfaces that were not created with mold tools, you can create the mold folders manually, then add the surfaces to the folders.
