Bill of Materials Quantity
You can link a custom property for a part and its associated value to the BOM quantity in a BOM. When the part appears in a BOM, the quantity is calculated as the value assigned to the custom property multiplied by the number of parts.
For example, you can:
- Create a custom property for a part named grease.
- Name the property Amount.
- Assign the value 3 to this custom property.
- Select Amount in the BOM Quantity field of the Custom or Configuration Properties tab of the part Properties dialog box.
If the value 3 represents ounces, you can create another custom property named Unit, and assign it the value oz. With this configuration, for every unit of grease listed in the BOM, the associated quantity is 3.
