Find References Dialog Box

Lists files referenced by the active part, assembly, or drawing document.

  • In an assembly document, lists the part and subassembly documents that are components of the active assembly. This list is useful when you have several versions of the component files.
  • In a part document, lists externally referenced documents, if they exist.
  • Shows the name and the folder location for referenced files.

To view the referenced files:

  1. Click File > Find References.
  2. Select options:
    Include broken references Adds broken references to the list.
    Nested view or Flat view Indents file names based on their parent/child relationships, or positions all names at the left margin.
    Select Nested view to preserve folder structure. Saves the model and all its references in one folder for Flat view.
    Delete Missing References Deletes missing components. Under In Folder, File not found appears for missing components.

    Does not delete missing external references like derived parts, mirror parts, or split parts.

    Click Delete Missing References to open the Confirm Delete dialog box and delete the missing components.
    If you previously selected Don't show again in the Confirm Delete dialog box, the dialog box does not open.

    To show the dialog box, click Tools > Options and under Messages/Errors/Warnings, click Dismissed messages. Clear Do you really want to delete the following item(s)?.

    Available when the model has missing components.

    Print Prints the list of referenced files.
    Copy List Copies the list of reference files.
    Copy Files Opens the Pack and Go dialog box where you can save referenced files to a folder or zip file.
